The Alberta Elite Hockey League is pleased to announce Ryder Ponto (Leduc Oil KingsU18 AAA), Lynden Donald-Gorman (CACU16 AAA), and Jack Kachkowski (St. Albert SabresU15 AAA) as the Source for Sports Players of the Month for November.

U18 AAA – Ryder Ponto (Leduc Oil Kings)

Leduc Oil Kings netminder Ryder Ponto had an excellent November, helping his squad recover from a win-less October, finishing the month with a 5-1 record, a 1.84 goals-against average, .947 save percentage, and one shutout.

“Ryder had a great bounce back month,” said Head Coach Duncan Milroy. “He has helped our Leduc U18 AAA team who had no wins in the month of October, to  having 5 wins on the season and just a few points back of a playoff spot. His work ethic in practice and his calm demeanor in the net has sparked new life back into our team after a very rough start.”

U16 AAA – Lynden Donald-Gorman (CAC)

The Canadian Athletic Club’s U16 AAA team went 5-0 in November, thanks in large part to forward Lynden Donald-Gorman, who finished the month with six goals and seven assists for 13 points in just five games.

Donald-Gorman’s exceptional November was highlighted by back-to-back five point games on November 14 and November 27. He currently leads all U16 AAA skaters in goals (18) and points (33) in just 16 games.

“(Lynden) competes hard every game, practice, and team event,” said Head Coach Lee Zalasky.

U15 AAA – Jack Kachkowski (St. Albert Sabres)

St. Albert Sabres defenceman Jack Kachkowski helped lead his team to the top of the standings in November, posting four goals and five assists for nine points in eight games, in which the Sabres went a perfect 8-0. Jack finished the month as the only defender among the top 20 scorers in the league.

“On and off the ice, (Jack) has been a true leader,” said Head Coach Geoff Giacobbo. “During the month of November, our team also competed in the Rocky Mountain Classic, playing 5 games where Jack was very good on the ice and very good off the ice role modelling how a leader should act in all scenarios. Jack continues to volunteer with minor hockey teams, and does very well academically as a grade 10 student. Jack’s teammates look up to him and look to him for guidance.”
