RED DEER – Thirty-eight current Alberta Elite Hockey League players heard their names called at the 2021 WHL Draft on Thursday.
Defenceman Marek Howell (Calgary U18 AAA Royals) was the first AEHL player off the board, going 16th overall in the first round to the Moose Jaw Warriors.
Grady Martin (Lethbridge U18 AAA Hurricanes) was the first AEHL forward taken, as the Prince Albert Raiders selected him in the second round, 32nd overall. The Prince George Cougars made Madden Mulawka (MLAC U18 AAA) the first AEHL goaltender drafted this year, taking him in the fifth round with the 100th pick.
