AEHL’s Players of the Month – November 2024

After the conclusion of the second month of the 2024-25 Alberta Elite Hockey League season, the AEHL is proud to announce the following winners of Player of the Month for all eight divisions for the month of November. The league is also proud to announce this month’s recipient of the Humanitarian of the Month Award, Thomas Acquaye.

Humanitarian of the Month

Thomas AcquayeCAC Imperial Equities U15 AA

Thomas has an exceptional dedication to giving back to his community. Beyond his impressive performance on the ice, Thomas consistently demonstrates a deep commitment to helping others. He actively volunteers at his local church and participates in all fundraising activities while supporting his team’s bottle drive and other fundraising initiatives. Additionally, Thomas has been a part of the CAC Hockey Loves Moms campaign, where he and his teammates will select a charity to support and fundraise for during the season. His compassion extends further as he will be volunteering with his teammates at the Second Chance Animal Rescue Society on December 20th, and he is also helping provide for a family in need over the holidays by gathering and delivering a hamper of essential items. Thomas’s ongoing efforts to make a positive difference, both in his community and beyond, embody the true spirit of humanitarianism, making him a deserving recipient of this prestigious award.


Players of the Month

U18

AAA – Caleb TherresCalgary United Pacific Projects Flames – F (5GP, 1G, 7A, 8P)

Caleb has been a force throughout the Month of November. He has been a physical presence and has shown tremendous leadership. As an assistant captain, he has led by example, working hard, blocking shots and taking hits to make the best play. Caleb is a 200 ft centreman, playing in all situations. He has been especially adept at defensive zone coverage and breaking the puck out. His 8-point month is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the overall impact on each game. Caleb has been a driver of the current five-game win streak of the Flames.

AA North Metro – Gavin PalmerLeduc Oil Country Towing Roughnecks – F (5GP, 6G, 1A, 7P)

Gavin Palmer is an accomplished Honor Student at his school and a key member of the leadership group for his team. He dedicates significant time to supporting the local business “Pivot Power Skating,” serving as an on-ice demonstrator of edge work for younger players multiple times a week. In addition to his academic and community contributions, Gavin showcased his skills on the ice in November, achieving a remarkable three-game goal streak and delivering two multi-goal performances.

AA North Rural – Hudson RossTRAC Wolverines – F (7GP, 5G, 4A, 9P)

Hudson Ross had a stellar November, showcasing his strong work ethic and relentless style of play. He was only held off the score sheet in two of the Wolverines’ seven games, recording three multi-point outings, including a hat trick. Ross’s impressive performance was pivotal in driving his team’s success this month.

AA South – Jordon HendricksWheatland Chiefs – F (6GP, 4G, 9A, 13P)

November was an exceptional month for Jordon, as he demonstrated his scoring prowess by accumulating 13 points over six games, collecting points in all but one matchup. He showcased his skill with five multi-point games, including one two-goal outing. Jordan played a pivotal role in his team’s offence, solidifying his status as a key contributor this month.

AA Calgary – Luke WennbergNWCAA Stamps – F (5GP, 9G, 2A, 11P)

In November, Luke led the Stamps with seven goals and two assists. His outstanding performance was a key factor in the team’s perfect 5-0-0 record for the month, contributing points in 4 out of 5 games and achieving three multi-goal performances. Additionally, Luke played a vital role in guiding his team to 2 tournament championships.


U17/U16

AAA – Taylor RaynardMLAC Beverly Optimist Leafs – G (5GP, 5W, 1.38 GAA, .957 SV%)

Taylor has won his last six starts, dating back to late October. In November, he achieved a perfect record of 5-0, with two shutouts and an impressive goals-against average (GAA) of 1.38 during that time. He concluded October by winning his last two games, both of which were shutouts. Currently, Taylor has a season record of 7-1-1, which ties him for the most wins among goalies. He also ranks first in GAA and save percentage, and he is tied for allowing the fewest goals this season.

AA North Metro – Ryan SkoropadMLAC Lenbeth Weeping Tile – D (8GP, 1A, 1P)

In November, Ryan demonstrated remarkable leadership and unwavering commitment to his team, making a significant impact beyond just the stats. With one assist in eight games, his contributions on the ice tell only part of the story. Ryan is not just a skilled player; he embodies the spirit of professionalism and dedication, inspiring those around him and solidifying his role as a vital leader on the team.

AA North Rural – Linken MaheLakeland Panthers – D (7GP, 5G, 7A,12P)

In November, Linken helped the Panthers maintain an impressive undefeated record of 4-0-2. As a defenseman, he showcased his scoring ability by putting up 12 points in just seven games, but he also played a crucial role in the penalty kill and matched up against the opposing team’s top lines. His remarkable contributions included four multi-point performances, highlighted by a four-point game where he scored a hat trick. Linken’s efforts were instrumental in the Panthers’ success during the month, establishing him as a key asset on both ends of the ice.

AA Calgary – Brenden JohnsonCNHA Northstars – F (6GP, 5G, 6A,11P)

Brendan Johnson has been a cornerstone for the Northstars this season, carrying forward the momentum from his outstanding October into an incredible November. He is a natural leader on and off the ice, making him an easy choice for assistant captain, and he has played a pivotal role in the team’s strong start. His relentless work ethic and reliability in all situations have set a standard for his teammates, inspiring everyone around him. Contributing five goals and six assists for 11 points in November, he has been instrumental in keeping the Northstars competitive in a challenging Calgary Division. His impact was explicitly felt during the Remembrance Day long weekend, where he helped the team secure the Kirby Cup Championship for the second year in a row in Edmonton.


U15

AAA – Jevin MorrisonRed Deer Rebels – D (6GP, 2G, 11A, 13P)

As a 2011-born defenseman, Jevin rocketed up the stats leaderboard to become the leader in defense scoring in the league. In November, he achieved four multi-point performances, including one game where he scored six points. Jevin brings an offensive threat and possesses a highly effective first pass and elite evasiveness to get himself out of trouble when needed. He is a leader both on and off the ice, enhancing the performance of those around him.

AA North Metro – Liam BendallPAC Black Dirt Company Saints – F (8GP, 6G, 7A, 13P)

Liam’s exceptional leadership both on and off the ice, along with his quiet confidence, inspires his teammates. He combines a strong physical presence with a positive attitude that uplifts everyone around him. In November, Liam scored points in seven out of the Saints’ eight games and had four multi-point performances. His consistent performance and conduct reinforce our team spirit, making him an admirable choice for Player of the Month.

AA North Rural – William SchickFort McMurray Bouchier JOB – F (8GP, 10G, 14A, 24P)

William has had a strong start to the season, emerging as a key leader for the team and taking the league lead in points after November. His impressive on-ice performance has been highlighted by his three games in which he scored four or more points. William’s line has excelled in the defensive zone, effectively generating and maintaining offensive pressure in every game. His ability to contribute to the offensive and defensive sides of the puck has been crucial to his team’s success.

AA South – Mason MorganWest Central Tigers – G (4GP, 1.75 GAA, .940 SV%)

Mason is an excellent teammate and a leader for his team. In November, the West Central Tigers faced some tough North Division opponents, and Mason helped lead the team to a record of one win and three ties, allowing only seven goals in four games and boasting a save percentage of .940. His standout performance was against CAS, where he faced 45 shots and only allowed two goals.

AA Calgary – Ben St. LaurentCBHA Wranglers – F (5GP, 1A, 1P)

Ben plays with immense courage and consistently wins his share of puck battles. He’s known as a reliable, solid two-way player who excels at killing penalties, thanks to his relentless approach to reclaiming the puck for the Wranglers. Recently, he stepped up to fill in on defense due to injury and has taken to it like a natural.


U13

AAA – Grayson FidelackLloydminster Lancers – D (7GP, 11A, 11P)

Grayson played very well through November; as a first-year defenseman, he has risen to the top of the statistics leaderboard and is 2nd amongst all defensemen in points. Grayson scored 11 points in 7 games throughout the month while playing a strong defensive game. His leadership and strong play have established him as one of the top defenders among his peers.

AA North Metro – Espen OrfinoSt. Albert Stars – F (8GP, 12G, 8A, 20P)

Espen had a strong November campaign, recording 20 points in eight games and helping lead his team to a record of seven wins and one loss. He recorded two five-point games and three multi-goal outings, including one hat trick game.

AA North Rural – Duncan DickieFort Saskatchewan Rangers – F (7GP, 1G, 2A, 3P)

Duncan demonstrates his remarkable work ethic, grit, and tenacity on the ice. As an assistant captain, he leads by example, giving 100% during every shift. His efforts translated into three points over seven games, including one goal and two assists. Duncan’s commitment to the team and relentless drive played a crucial role in the team’s performance.

AA South – Beckham SprungerMedicine Hat Hounds – F (7GP, 9G, 16A, 25P)

Beckham showcased his remarkable versatility on the ice; his all-encompassing game shines through as he kills penalties with the same determination he demonstrates during power plays. Not only does he attack with energy, but his defensive skills mirror that intensity. With three games of five or more points, including two hat tricks, Beckham has proven himself to be an extremely intelligent young player.

AA Calgary – Robert Kulscar CBHA Wranglers – G (2GP, 3.00 GAA, .866 SV%)

Throughout November, Robert played a crucial role in leading the CBHA Wranglers to the top of the Calgary division. Topping the league with an impressive six wins, boasting a goals-against average of 2.00. Additionally, Robert is among the top players in save percentage (.902), solidifying his position as a standout goalie this month.
